CREAFT AS CEREMONY
The project is on traditional craft, focusing on the rituals involved in the making process and the ceremonial aspects intrinsic to crafting. Through the technique of stencil dyeing (Katazome), I investigated sustainable practices and cultural storytelling and inviting viewers to discover the sense of ceremony from everyday objects while taking the journey with me on traditional craft.
The concept is the visualisation of surroundings represented as cultural heritage in contemporary textiles using the craft of stencil dyeing.
Craft is the artform through which I express myself. I collected descriptions and photos of ritualised objects from people to explore their thoughts on the sense of ceremony.

A piece of interior space
To present the project holistically, I applied my skills in art direction, photography, and video production, creating a visually immersive narrative.
